Privacy Policy
Numia — AI nutrition tracker · Last updated: 13 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Numia ("we", "us", the "App") collects, uses, and protects
your information when you use the Numia mobile application. By using Numia, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account data — your name and email address, used to create and secure your account (including sign-in with Google or Apple).
- Health & fitness data — the food, calories, macros, water and weight you log, plus the steps, active energy and sleep you choose to share from Apple Health (HealthKit) or Android Health Connect. Used to provide nutrition tracking and insights. See Health data (HealthKit) below.
- Photos — pictures of food or nutrition labels you take or upload for AI scanning. Used only to estimate nutrition for that scan.
- User identifier — an account ID linking your data to you.
- Usage & diagnostic data — app interactions, crash logs and performance data, used to fix bugs and improve the App.
How we use your data
- To provide core features: food logging, AI scanning, meal planning, coaching and progress tracking.
- To personalize your calorie and macro goals.
- To maintain, secure and improve the App.
We do not use your data for cross-app tracking or advertising, and we do not sell your personal data.
Third-party services
We use trusted providers to operate the App. They process data only to provide their service:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Google & Apple — optional sign-in.
- Cloudflare — secure storage of food photos.
- Google Gemini — AI analysis of food photos and text (images are processed to return nutrition data).
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics.
- RevenueCat & Apple — subscription management (we never receive your card details).
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time
from within the App, or by contacting us at the email below. Upon request your personal data will be permanently removed.
Health data (HealthKit)
Numia uses Apple's HealthKit framework on iOS (and Android Health Connect on Android). This section
governs that data and takes precedence over the rest of this policy wherever it is stricter.
- What we read. Only steps, active energy burned, and sleep — and only the categories you explicitly
authorise. We never read a category you have not granted.
- What we write. With your permission, Numia writes the nutrition data you log (calories, protein,
carbohydrates, fat, water) back to Apple Health, so your other health apps stay in sync. You can decline this and keep
using every feature of the App.
- Why. Solely to personalise your calorie and macro targets and your insights inside the App. Nothing else.
- We never use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or any other use-based data mining.
- We never sell HealthKit data, and we never disclose it to third parties for advertising, analytics,
resale, or any purpose of their own. HealthKit data is not sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) and is
not included in product analytics (PostHog).
- Where it is stored. HealthKit data you share is sent only to Numia's own backend, where it is used to
adjust your calorie and macro targets. That backend runs on infrastructure operated by Supabase as our data processor;
Supabase stores the data on our behalf and may not use it for any purpose of its own.
- Your control. You can revoke Numia's access at any time in the iOS Settings app (Health → Data
Access & Devices → Numia), or in Health Connect on Android. Revoking access does not delete the nutrition data
you logged inside Numia; you can delete that at any time from within the App.
Children's privacy
Numia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
